… but hopefully the last if it. 😉 I know it’s only January, but I’m so ready for warm weather. Camping, kayaking, bike riding. Obedience and agility training with my dobergirl. Woodworking in the garage. Come on, spring. 🙂
This year we’ve had quite a bit of snow so far. It seems like the dogs are enjoying it the most. Especially the dobergirl. We take her for walks in the forest, where she can run like crazy, and she loves it. I, on the other hand, am ready for spring. 🙂
So, it happened. While I was actively looking for another wiener dog, my husband was apparently looking for a Doberman Pincher that he’s been dreaming of for years. And he found her. First. Dang. But I have to say, she is pretty awesome. She was five months old and in a bit of a rough shape–not socialized very well and with some skin condition.
She is still terrified of everything, but her skin is clearing up. We are working with her on socializing and are going to start obedience classes soon. She has warmed up to us and is the sweetest dobe I’ve known. Bonnie, the wiener dog, really likes her. They are like two peas in a pot. Claudia is so patient with Bonnie. She even lets her share the bone–each chews opposite ends. They play-fight any chance they get, nap next to each other. Kinda crazy how these two have hit if off. I’m still going to get more dachshunds, just have to wait a few years.
My kids don’t like me sewing clothes for them anymore, so I’ve found myself new victims. I don’t think Savannah really likes to wear sweaters but Bonnie could not care less. She seems to actually like it. I might need to open an etsy shop with my own line of doggy clothes. 🙂
Here we go again–fall and the time for family pictures. I feel obligated to take pictures of the whole family at least once a year, so it became a tradition to do it in the fall. Nobody really likes it. It’s challenging to get everything organized. But I think it’s important, so we get it done. Another year in the books. I’m just glad I don’t have to be on this side of the camera again until fall next year. 🙂
I’m in market for another wiener dog. This girl stole our hearts are we need more of these in our lives.
Our dog, Savannah, is getting old. She is a special-needs Dalmatian mix that we got from a shelter 10 years ago. She was about 3 years old then. We’ve been thinking about what kind of dog we would wanna get when she is gone but could not agree on one breed. I wanted a Dachshund — to carry around, give belly kisses and cuddles and baths… I’ve never had a small dog before. My husband wanted a dog to protect the house — a Doberman. So that was the plan … for the future. But …. I couldn’t wait and have been researching breeders in an area, looking for dachshunds in shelters already… and just happened to find this gorgeous gal. We could not be happier with her. Almost wish we got her sooner and had more time to bond before having to return to school schedules etc.
It has become a tradition for a few of my polish friends, that I met on an online forum, to get together for a camping trip. The crowd seems to be growing with every year, with one of my friends even flying in from Poland to join us. This year we went to Brown County SP. The weather was perfect and sights beautiful.
A friend of mine shared a location of an eagle nest on lake Monroe with us. We’ve been checking up on it ever since. It’s been pretty exciting to watch baby eagles grow and see grown eagles at every visit to that part of the lake.
